How firm is it?
7 out of 10 on our scale — firm. The scale is not an industry standard, so compare it against the other mattresses in this range rather than against another brand's number.
This sits in the middle of the range, which suits side and back sleepers, and most couples who disagree.
What is inside it?
Silk and cashmere ticking 4cm | Horsehair 4cm | Silk 2cm | Wool 4cm | Pocket spring unit 24cm — 38 cm in total.
How deep is it, and will it fit my bed?
38 cm, give or take a centimetre. Measure from your slats to the top of the side rail: a mattress much deeper than the surround loses the edge support the frame was giving it.
At this depth, check your headboard height and your fitted sheets before ordering. Standard sheets are cut for shallower mattresses.
How many springs does it have?
1400 in a double, scaled up and down with the size. Past about 1,500 in a double, extra springs stop making a difference you can feel — they have to be thinner to fit, so each one does less.
What sizes does it come in?
Small single, Single, Small double, Double, King, Super king, Emperor.

Can I use it on a slatted base?
Yes, provided the slats are no more than 7 cm apart. Wider gaps let the mattress settle into them over time, and that is excluded from the guarantee. On a solid platform, stand the mattress on its side for an hour a few times a year so the underside can dry out.
Does it need turning?
No — it is a no-turn build. Rotate it head to foot every three months for the first year, then twice a year after that.
What if I do not get on with it?
You have 100 nights. Give it at least three weeks first: any new mattress feels wrong at the start because your body has adapted to the old one. If it is still wrong, we collect it free of charge.
The guarantee runs 10 years.
Is it UK fire-safety compliant?
Yes. BS 7177 Low Hazard, under the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988, with a permanent Schedule 7 label sewn into the border.
How long does the new-foam smell last?
24 to 72 hours with a window open. It is the foam off-gassing and it is harmless. It is strongest on a rolled mattress in the first hour after unwrapping.
How is it delivered?
Free, tracked, one-person parcel delivery on rolled sizes. Deeper and hand-tufted builds ship flat on a two-person service and we book a slot with you.
Can you take my old mattress away?
Yes — add old mattress removal to the order and the driver collects it on delivery. It goes to a licensed recycler, not to landfill.
